IVANA GRAHOVAC
VIOLONCELLO
Ivana was born in Belgrade, Serbia, were she began her musical studies at the age of ten. She graduated cello performance at Belgrade Academy of Music. In 2004 she gained masters degree (solo/chamber recitalist) in Royal College of Music, London and Eastman School of Music, Rochester, USA.
She is active chamber musician performing with classical music ensembles, and engaging in interpretation and dissemination of New Music. She have been exploring different approaches in musical creation ranging from classical music performance, creative improvisation, integrating electronic devices and acoustic instruments. She is composing and arranging for film, theatre, and wide range of different multimedia performances and projects.
Having numerous performances all around Europe she has been collaborating with large number of academic composers, film and theatre directors, and artists.
Ivana is regulary performing in festivals of classical and improvisational music, Kuhmo, Belef, Exit (Vexation, Satie) IEM Cube Graz, Balkan improvisational festival, Cologne, GAIA Kammermusikfestival, Thun, blink ART, Cronosfera, VNM music festival, INFANT etc.
Ivana composed and implemented her original style of improvisational music in several well acclaimed theatre plays (Voices by Harold Pinter, Juditha (Jelena Bogavac) by Hauard Baker, Little Mirmaid, (Iva Milošević) by Hans Kristian Anderson) Thirteen (Gordana Lebovic), movie “Between dream and dream” by Marija Stojnic etc.
In 2007 with Manja Ristić, she founded artistic society Auropolis that is engaging in sustaining criteria of high level performance and motivation of young artists and promoting classical music.
In 2012 Ivana started collaborating with pianist Olivier Maurel on the project Opus Neo, comedian Sofie Terrade Maurel, clarinetist Jean Bru, and dancer Ivola Demange, giving several performances in Europe.
From 2010 to 2012 she received instructor formation in art of Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong in school “L’Art du Chi” based in France, Provence.
